Google faces lawsuit in the US over Play Store monopoly

36 US states have filed a lawsuit against Google over engaging in monopolistic activities in app distribution and payments on the Play Store. The suit at the US District Court for the Northern District of California claims Google is violating Section 1 and 2 of The Antitrust Laws, better known as the Sherman Act. According to the plaintiff states, Google is imposing “technological obstacles or inaccurate warnings” to scare away users from sideloading apps and prohibiting OEMs from preloading competing app stores.
